If you are not living uncuffed, you are just not living...and your clients will know.

What Happens When 2 Worlds Collide

useful tool to being uncuffed in your life and business.

Sometimes, two worlds collide, but magic does not happen.

Sometimes, your business becomes you and you become your business. Who am I kidding, you are your brand, ALL the time. What happens when the collision is not pretty? Try not to air your dirty laundry. Be consistent.

I used to show up at family reunions and social gatherings as Caprice Smith, but in this age, I am now "The Uncuffed Living Expert" everywhere I go. For this, I am happy, they got the message, but how many times have people walked up to you, called you by name and asked how are the kids; while you struggle to recall where you guys met?  Yes, it should make you cringe and more cautious about how much you share and where.

Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs are their own Public Relations groups.  Remember, do not overload the system inundating the world with useless information. Instead, connect with your supporters and clients by  recognizing the power of video and pictures,  especially if you are in business.

This was a promotion of me modeling my Team Bossy gals t-shirt, meant to spread the word about the organization and celebrate women in business. You may just see a selfie at first glance, but the pictures serve a purpose.

Do not overlook the power of video and pictures,  especially if you still like to party. Those once private girl’s night photographs have become public and long lasting. Your personality flaws become flaws within your business. A wrong move can quickly cost you a good reputation in business.

They simply cannot  be separate, so govern yourself accordingly. Try not to become the next tabloid subject or breaking news story. Remember, you may not be the one taking the photo, and you may not be the one posting it; but, it won’t matter once it is posted, especially if you are tagged in it.

Reflecting on my days as a police detective and years of training, we were taught that integrity is everything. The rule of thumb was, if you could not do it in front of your grandmother, then maybe you shouldn’t be doing it. In light of all of the recent negative police activity in the media, it is a great idea to get back to that concept. So, maintain professionalism and integrity, at all times.

Getting back to business, understand your business, and understand you will be scrutinized, criticized, and judged. Have no fear, and understand these things do not define you; and, just try not to fall on the sword of your own hand. Before people even begin to become familiar with your product and your branding, they will want to know more about you.

They will be interested in how you carry yourself, your habits, and if you are great at what you do. They may research you to discover if you truly deliver. If you are still working through hiccups in your personal life, you must deal with them before your business will grow. The one thing that you try to hide the most is typically the one thing people will see first, so it is always best to do the self work.

Don't Hurt Yourself

Imagine if you would, an over-sized box with a big red bow on it. You would be drawn to the beautiful wrapping, and you would want to know what's inside. Some women parade around in super sexy clothing revealing so much everyone is intrigued, but like the big gift box with a plush red bow, the attention is stuck on the packaging. Once you have your client's attention, it's better to make it worth their wild. Spark their interest. Spend that same level of attention on making that dynamic product. There are 3 Powerful Keys needed to be successful in life and in business.

#1 Decide Who You Are.

We often get stuck in the mimicking or modeling phase. Just like children, we must eventually grow up and decide who you are. Articulate what you stand for and stick to it. The biggest mistake we make in business is forgetting the value in our story and beauty in our uniqueness. Celebrate it and share, that is how you make a difference. By the way, while we cutting the cord, make a decision to be the best at whatever it is you have decided to be. Perfect you, become a life long learner and by all means spend time learning what makes you tick and what stops you.

#2 Eliminate Dead Weight

The first thing you must get rid of is dead weight.  When I first started my business, I always tried to network in the old fashion way.  Network in the traditional sense meant going to many events without true consideration of whether it was a good fit for me.  I would collect as many business cards I possibly could, but I never followed up.

Since I was responsible for all of the components of my business,  it was very difficult to follow up with everyone who had shown interest in me or even people I thought I should connect with.  It was difficult to make the follow up phone calls.  I realized collecting business card was not the best way to network.

If you are like me, you have probably tried the same thing and probably had the same results.  Did it work for you?  What I gained was paper clutter and a host of connections who were not authentic or sincere.  I spent a lot of time carrying around business cards and clutter, which blocked real connections.

The dead weights, insincere connections, are the people who weigh you down, and blockers have to go.

#3 Stop Hurting Yourself

The second thing is to stop the self-sabotage.  We have all ran from, hid behind, or fought something, mainly due to fear.  Some people are afraid of success.  Some people fear lack, while others fear being sick, and the list is endless.

Whatever it is, stop the self-sabotage.  Repeat after me, “I am deserving of success and happiness.  It can come to me through my business.”  Now, identify the thing that’s holding you back.  And, in my strongest defensive voice, I am demanding you kick its’ buttocks!  Eliminate it from your life and your mental processes.  You must do this part; otherwise you’ll never ever get to the next level.

My self-sabotage stemmed from baggage I carried from my childhood.  Some things held me back for several years, until I completed the self-work.  I carried limiting beliefs into my business and transferred it to my clients, which led to me allowing myself to be devalued.  I clung to clients, because I was unsure when the next one would show up.  I was unknowingly blocking future clients, because I needed to de-clutter.

When I cleared my heart, soul, mind, and business; I truly began to feel the success and happiness meant for me.  The right things showed up for me abundantly and have not slowed down.  You are literally holding yourself back, if you do not de-clutter.

Caprice Was The Featured Speaker At The American Business Women's Association In Annapolis

"Thanks so much for coming and being such a dynamic speaker!!!"

When one door is closed, another flies open. If not knock gently then kick it down. Excited to be the featured speaker at The American Business Women's Association Maryland Chapter tonight. Best thing is my favorite girl came out for my first official MCA Ambassador appearance.

Stay focused, less distracted and married to your dreams.Live long enough and you will experience love, lost, defeat and attack. Things can be very distracting. This season, take a step back from everything occupying priceless space, keeping you on that hamster wheel. Stay focused.

This is a recipe that Caprice follows and it landed her a job as the featured speaker at the American Business Women's Association in Annapolis.

Aspiring to become a successful woman in business?

It is sometimes difficult to get to the things that you "want to do." There are many distractions and reasons, sometime really great ones for why we never "get to it." It is always best to start, one small step at a time is better than doing nothing. Focus on your success.

My social media outlets are becoming a popular one stop for motivation and instruction for women aspiring to be successful in business. People are getting tips on how to remain focused. I shared these two nuggets that gained popularity, "It is my opinion that when your are a successful woman in business, you probably decided that nothing will stand between you and your God ordained purpose. Nothing will stop you, not even your own insecurities. No one will understand your drive."

The second popular piece, "Y ou have eaten enough.  You can't get full from someone else's breakfast, eat your own. How full you get depends on how many bites you take.  Stop over eating, waiting and living vicariously through others. You have planted enough seeds, prune your fruit and cook your meal. Others are starving, waiting on your dish. If you don't believe you have eaten enough, place yourself on a scale. I bet you, you will tip it with your ideas, assets and unique brilliance."

Are you a city gal or suburban housewife?

Americans are addicted to being busy notes award winning journalist turned author Brigid Schulte in her book Overwhelmed. I have witnessed this, and think it would do women good to c hoose to be a city girl or soccer mom. We are driving ourselves crazy, trying to be both.

In order to feel less overwhelmed, it is important to decide what type of life you want. Are you the type of city gal that will run from work to Starbucks and then back  to work? Run from meetings to meetings, then hang out with friends at girls night?

Are you the type of woman who will enjoy casual dinners with your family and soccer games? Do you enjoy unwinding by taking the family to baseball games in the summer? Can you really be both? The answer is no, because you will spread yourself too thin.

A lot of times we get confused and overwhelmed because we are trying to live someone else's life and follow their dreams; when we didn't want what they wanted in the first place. City gal vs. Soccer mom, which one are you?  Be less overwhelmed by being yourself. Only one object or person can occupy the same space at one time. Isn't that a Scientific law?

Handcuff Key To Uncuffed Living #72015, Keep grinding.

In the past, I would juggle dropping off kids, rushing to work, running home to manage my business and keeping my dreams alive. I'm so grateful to be a full time entrepreneur. The doors that were opened because of my grind, truly enable me to engage with my family. I love that the sacrifices I made earlier in life are now vehicles for blessings later in life. I'm telling you that it may seem difficult now. You may seem underappreciated, the money may not be rolling in and your time is limited. Stick to it! Dream big and stop sharing your dreams with small minded people. Keep grinding you'll win!

I Flew An Airplane

Sharing is as important to living as oxygen is to breathing. Although I am typically afraid of heights, the "plane" truth is that I fly an airplane. I conquered my fear by getting in the driver’s seat and flying a plane. It was very intimidating, but my biggest lesson learned in the sky was that you really are not living unless you are living uncuffed.

At times in the sky, I felt out of control, intimidated, insecure and vulnerable, but as I turned left, then right, then up and down, I knew I could do whatever I wanted to in life. Take chances and don't ever limit yourself. You can feel the same way. Fly your plane, kick fear, insecurities, apprehension and everything else out that has to go from about 10,000 feet in the air. It's your turn to fly, you in?

To Uncuffed Living, move something!

Reflecting on my past few days, I have traveled and seen a lot of this beautiful country. Tapping into my adventurous side feels awesome. With each visit, came/comes a new blessings. Sometimes you gotta move something. Scoot your boot. Your dreams are looking for you.

So What, It Wasn't Perfect...Typos Are Not The End All

Have you noticed the typos trending in today's media? Do you know what they say about typos? Some call them unprofessional and sloppy, others never even notice them. Either way, leaves room for discussion if typos really make an impact.

Caprice believes typos exist to remind us that we are human. In fact, as long as it is not habitual, she believes typos gives perfectionists the opportunity to offer corrections. In some cases, typos will make you more connected to your potential clients.

Caprice believes that if you are a woman in business, you should strive for excellence,  but  avoid trying to reach perfection. This is a dangerous way to operate and keeps many people from moving forward. Instead of aching over the typos, try these three things,

1. Fix them, just because you didn't get it right the first time, always correct yourself when possible.

2. Slow down, like with anything else, it is easier to get it right at first instead of having to correct it later. Slow down to avoid costly mistakes.

3.  Move on, if I had waited for the perfect moments in life in business, I would have missed many perfect moments. Forgive yourself and move past your mistakes.

Handcuff Key to Uncuffed Living #59, Watch Out Now, It Comes Back.

Be careful what you throw out into the universe, it comes back to you. Some call it karma. I believe you shape your own future by your demeanor. If you dish out a negative attitude and belittle others, you will not feel good about yourself. Everything will feel like an attack against you. Everywhere you go you take something away & leave something
behind. That's The Locard Principle. Be mindful about what you are leaving and sharing.

Try to share kindness and love, that way you get rewards and blessings.

What Are Readers Saying About Uncuffed~Behind My Smile

"Hey Caprice. I just finished the last chapter of your book and I have to say that after reading your book... I really want to thank you for sharing your story and providing me the inspiration and ongoing courage to make a difference in the community. I have found that this journey ...against inner city poverty and oppression has left me many of nights tired, overwhelmed, and downright depressed because of the awareness I have of the injustice that occurs within inner city communities. You have shown me your perspective through your book and I wish that I have the opportunity to work with you and speak with you again in person to express the true feelings I have from reading your book... I really enjoyed your story and was intrigued by the way you chose to title your chapters! I thought it was very clever. You have some of the most admirable characteristics that I have ever seen in a woman... had no idea you were a City College Alumni like myself so....CITY

Tip #28 To Uncuffed Living, Forgive "him," so you can love "him"

Tip #28 To Uncuffed Living, Forgive "him," so you can love "him"

For years I held on to regrets and pain of having a less than perfect father. Then I grew up and stopped blamming the world for his faults. I forgave him (my dad) so I could love him (my man). Ladies if you can't find the right man, get the right relationship for you, attract the perfect him, it might be because you still need to forgive "him." My heavenly father forgives me daily, I must show the same love. As we embark upon Father's Day, lets clean our slates, step outside of ourselves and celebrate "them" our mentors, baby daddies, hubbies, boyfriends, fathers and give our sons something to look forward to. Show love to get love #uncuffed.

Tip 26 To Uncuffed Living~ Give credit where it is due, whose shoulders are you standing on?

Although many of us experience success in our businesses and the "good life," it is important to give credit where it is due. Really, we didn't start this movement, we just chose to stand in it. It is so very important to salute the women entrepreneurs who started it all. Madam CJ Walker, a game changer in hair care. I proudly wear my naturally curly bush, because of the conversations you started about hair. Elizabeth Arden, a game changer in the makeup field. I don't have to hide my blue and green eye shadow, because you said it was ok. Coco Chanel, this world will never smell the same, we salute you. You were a "bad mama jama." Henrietta Lacks, if you know me, you have heard her story, if not DNA (get to know her story). Lastly, Oprah, you have redefined media. Your larger than life presence, fuels my spunk. Without you ladies, we would not have the USA that we know today.
Whose shoulders are you standing on?

Handcuff Key #33: To Uncuffed Living...shift your emotions

Handcuff Key #33: To Uncuffed Living...shift your emotions

Since retiring as a police detective I have had more opportunity to check in on my own emotions. Instead of being responsible for the "worlds' happiness," I have focused on my own. I have grown to realize that I am so much happier and at peace when I'm surrounded by the people that I love, doing the things that I love to do.

If you are an emotional wreck you're going to transfer that negative energy, that chaotic energy over to people who might be trying to help you. Take a moment to check on your own emotions.

Summer time is a great time to step away from things. Stop forcing yourself to do things that you don't want to do, stop trying to please others and stop worrying about everybody else.

Be the best version of yourself and others will appreciate you more, want to be around you and want to invest in you.

Simply put, shift your mindest by eliminating the heavy mess that doesn't even belong to you.

Own Your Stuff

Handcuff key#32 -To Uncuffed Living. Don't Wimp Out, Say No. Set A Boundary

Stick to your boundaries. We often think we have to ignore nonsense and maltreatment when it comes from the people we love the most. However, we need to teach even close freinds and family members how to treat us.

Strong, clear boundaries are a must to maintaining a clean mental state. Eliminate any behavior that threatens yours. Then you can treat your supporters and clients with love and respect, instead if unleashing on them what you are too afraid to give the folks who deserve to be straighten out. Don't be a wimp and say "No," have boundaries. Boundaries are the border lines that reminds us of our own worth.

Handcuff Key #33 To Uncuffed Living, Take A Break (AB) vs Burn Out (BO)

Handcuff Key #33 To Uncuffed Living, Take A Break (AB) vs Burn Out (BO)

Many entrepreneurs spin their wheels, rushing to send follow up emails and taking business calls during family time. They get a look of desperation, longing for their next customer. Then they lose energy when they are rejected.

They believe everyone should invest in them, simply because they have worked so hard at their business. They even feel discouraged when they see everyone else getting opportunities. They try and keep the pace of being totally driven 100% of the time, without earning money. That's like hustling for free. Before you burn out, take a break. This will avoid a complete shut down.

Settle down, mentally check in on yourself, strengthen those boundaries, try something fun and set a pace that you can handle. Oh and charge what you are worth.

Trust me there will not be a shortage of opportunities and customers if you are honoring your uniqueness, serving your community, living your purpose and deciding to be uncuffed.

Bottom line, settle down! We have this under control. AB vs. BO

Tip #4 To Uncuffed Living

Tip #4 To Uncuffed Living

Be yourself ALL the time.

Understand who you are, your strengths, your kryptonite, your passion, your cause, your higher authority and your drive. If they are not in sync, than you are off balance. Get the help, read a book, develop mental healthy habits and do the dang thing. Love yourself so you can be yourself.

Dating Violence Is Real

February Is Dating Violence Awareness Month. Please take a moment and share these 3 things to reduced the 1 in 3 that will be mistreated.

1. "There is an increased risk of unhealthy relationships for teens who have multiple sexual partners, use drugs or alcohol, don’t have parental supervision, or witness violence at home or in the neighborhood."

2.  "Eight States in the U.S. do not consider a violent dating relationship domestic abuse. Therefore, adolescents, teens, and 20-somethings are unable to apply for a restraining order for protection from the abuser."

3.  "Violent behavior often begins between 6th and 12th grade. 72 percent of 13 and 14-year-olds are dating."

Tip #2 Uncuffed Living

Tip #2 to Uncuffed Living

Allow your dreams to manifest. Sometimes we constrict ourselves by daydreaming about success, without taking action.

We keep our goals on our vision boards and in our hearts, without ever letting them flourish and trusting they would actually come to life. The best way to let you dreams become reality is to open yourself up for support, vow to make them come true and never ever surrender them.

I was cloned!

I just could not let January end without stopping through to tell you about all the great news. I have been excitedly transitioning from my law enforcement career to being a coach and author full time. I actually pulled off the biggest trick ever, I was two places at one time. Yes! I could not believe it myself. On the day of my interview at the Silent Storm at WHUR, I also premiered my Uncuffed radio. Amazingly, over 100 hundred listeners tuned in and they loved the show. We talked about continue.

Colorful Thanksgiving Survival Tips

Colorful Thanksgiving Survival Tips

Don't Let Stress In- Entrepreneurs especially get stressed out, because children are usually out of school and spouses take off from work. The idea of sticking to a schedule flies out the window, but the job of an entrepreneur is never finished. Don't allow stress to enter. Shut down the computer and be present in the moment. Your loved ones will appreciate it. Remember multi-tasking very seldom lends way to quality work.

Be Patient- Chances are you will be visiting or will have visits from extended family members that may not be accustomed to your quiet orderly way of living. Be gentle with them, you only have to put up with them for a little while. Just be patient toward your guests and family. Take time to really enjoy them

Eat The Turkey- This is no time for a diet or to watch what you eat. Cooks go through a lot of trouble to make sure the food is perfect and you could at least enjoy the food. So have it, indulge. Also, take in all the good conversation from family and friends. You will feel 100% enlightened to laugh and relax.

Start A Tradition- Every year my family visit and we bring in the New Year together. It is so much fun and has grown so much. Part of the excitement is to watch every new face enter not really knowing what to expect and leave promising to return. It is that much fun. Also, in December all my girlfriends come together to complete a new vision board. I do two, one for personal goals and the other for professional goals. Whatever you decide, make it fresh new and a tradition that briings every one together. Have fun with it.

The Biggest Hurdle That You Will Ever Face!

Tip #12 to Uncuffed living~ Set your goals, aim high and believe you can achieve them! The biggest hurdle that you will ever face is the battle in your mind.

You can not undo every negative thing "people" have said about you, those things that you have been holding on to. Stop playing it safe, think about all the times you decided not to take a chance, because you thought it was too risky. Think about every limiting belief that you have about yourself. Doesn't it feel weird to be soooo critical of yourself? Focus on your good attributes, instead of your faults.

Trust me, negative thinking can be deadly. Now, is the time for the negativity to go! The new year will be here before you know it, you MUST move pass the old you! Make today the day you Honor Your Uniqueness, Live Empowered & Balanced with.

I Was Not Ready

"I was not ready. You made me laugh and cry."  These are the words that I hear the most in recent days. Readers of Uncuffed are texting, calling and emailing about my book that took them on an emotional journey. I chuckle and ask readers if they are hiding behind their smile.

Are You Uncuffed?

Unleash your emotions today. Air the dirty laundry and release yourself from the guilt and bondage that keeps you in a safe place; safe, but unadventurous. Trust me living free and open is not only healthier, but it is easier. You do not have to try and pretend that things are okay. When you release the mess, you live!

Just know that you may have been through some things that were cold, harsh and ridiculously unfair. However, you can move past those things and until you do, you may never reach your full potential. Life can be peaceful and drama free, but you need to take the first step. Then you can start to translate your personal dramatic experiences into a lucrative entrepreneurial experience.

When you tell your story and make it personal, people want to work with you. They will want more of the authentic you.

I Was Asked Hard Core Questions On Live Radio!

I am all excited by the radio interviews, I was invited to participate in. I was bubbling with positive energy and humbled at the same time by the recognition that my latest book has been receiving. Since the release in mid-October, supporters have been ordering their copies of Uncuffed~Behind My Smile and the excitement surrounding it has not settled.

I knew it would be huge, but could have never imagine that it would have received so much positive attention. I have been interviewed on three radio stations and have been sorting through the other invitations with my publicist. Wow, it's a great time to be me!

In a few short weeks, I have been a guest on WHUR, WEAA and Sirius XM. If you missed these interviews, check them out here.

It has been fun and interesting, one host caught me off guard and asked hard core questions on live radio. He wanted to know how my mother felt about me sharing so much. He also asked me "how I managed to deal with layer upon layer of so many different types of abuse and still manage to smile?" I was stunned by his frankness. Before I answered, I softly smiled, partly because I realized that I could not hide from his question and partly because a small piece of me had been burning to share.

I told him that I have always recognized that GOD had a unique purpose for my life and my time was coming. I held true to the things that I told myself to get “through” and with an incredible sense of urgency, I worked hard daily to overcome hardships to live the life that I was suppose to. I am just so grateful that today my smile is genuine and pure, no mess lurking in the background.

I have been released and live every day with excitement and love. FORGIVENESS has empowered me to honor my uniqueness and lived empowered and balanced, how about you?

Tips #4-#6To Uncuffed Living

Tip #4 to Uncuffed living, clean your lense.

Doors were closed for a reason, people were removed from your life in the perfect season and that missed opportunity was not for you. Get over regrets and keep moving. You are healed, free and better. Recognize your blessings! #uncuffedbehindmysmile @honoryouruniqueness
Tip #6 to Uncuffed Living- Scratch the Surface

Yes you are beautiful, smart, happy and awesome! I wonder if we scratched the surface would you be all of those things or would you be hurting, insecure and imbalanced. Today I ask you to scratch the surface and see what's inside. If you are different on the inside than you are on the outside, do the self work. Don't be ashamed, we all could use a little work. #uncuffedbehindmysmile Honor Your Uniqueness, Live Empowered & Balanced with Caprice Smith

Tips #2-#3 to Uncuffed living

Tip#3 to Uncuffed living...pay attention. So in the past few my months my "cup has been running over." Then I notice white spiders everywhere. My bathroom dangling from ceiling and in church over the pastors head.

This peeked my interest. After googling it, I learn " In folklore, they mean good luck and prosperity." Hmmmmm I'm paying attention to symbolism in my life, are you?

To say mind your business may be to harsh, but I really want to encourage you to pay attention to your life, your home, your blessings, your business, YOUR legacy and see what pops up for you.

Tip #2 to Uncuffed living, whisper when you complain, but shout about your blessings. Show gratitude! #uncuffedbehindmysmile

So, what are you waiting for???

Look in the mirror and ask yourself, have you achieved all that you wanted to?

The year is more than half way through. Although, there is plenty of time left to reach your dreams, don't hesitate to act now. Start today and make them a reality. I have already started working on my 2014 goals. If you want a head start, follow this formula.

1. Write the vision and make it plain.

If it is too difficult, than it isn't clear enough. For example, if you wanted to start your own business, but are experiencing difficulty deciding what type of business you should start, you may not be ready to start your own business. You may need to spend a little more time in the brain storming phase. Write out your ideas, so you can honestly evaluate them.

2. Take the first step.
This may sound a little contradictory to step one, but you have to make the the first step. There are many dreams that die with dreamers. Don't be a dreamer, tell a friend  about your idea, write the business plan, research similar businesses and make it happen. Yep, every business first started by someone making themselves vulnerable, sharing their ideas and taking a leap of faith. You could be the next big thing.

3. Get the help you need.

To eliminate your fear, stop Googling your way to the top. You certainly can get great ideas and insight from others on the Internet, but why would you just want to mimic someone else. Be authentically you! Only a coach can help you create your business and streamline your vision professionally. This  will help you av oid costly mistakes. No one is good at  everything, so don't be too shy to ask for help.

I love working with women especially, to help them uncover the imbalance in their professional and personal lives. Bridge the gap so they can discover the many ways that they can create the perfect business. I have helped other coaches, Non-profit founders, Travel Agents and a host of other women. Is it your turn?

If you are really good at many things, would like to create different streams of income and launch your powerful message to the world, I am the right person for you.

Leverage Your Conversation

Have you taken notice of the change in the way we communicate? We are having more frequent conversations with strangers, but with a sense of familiarity thanks to the broad scope of Facebook, LinkedIN and Twitter. There are important elements that are lost in translation with non-verbal communication. In order to sharpen your communication to leverage the most from every conversation, one must explore three core elements, especially if you own a business or are thinking of launching one.

Key Point #1- Be aware and in control of the signals that your body language and the words  you use send to others? Our elders are 100% correct, sit up straight and don't slouch when you have a conversation. Good posture enables you to control your breathing a place emphasis on your words. Your body language gives clues to the listener and adds credibility to your message.  Likewise, choosing the right words in social media will stress your messages. The right words and positive body language comes natural when you are honest.

Key Point #2
Social Media
 has completely
change how we start and carry on conversation, use it to
your advantage. This is a good change, because we communicate more often and more discoveries about one another. More importantly, we discover more about ourselves. Likewise, valuable information is shared openly and without cost, because many people have blogs and willingly share information.

Key Point #3- Use every conversation to make a connection. This is probably the most important element. There are several reason why we communicate with one another, to learn information, for humor, to share commonalities, the list is endless. On some level, a connection is always sought. So the next time you have an opportunity to communicate, make eye contact and truly listen to the person who is speaking. In the social networks, hit the like button or re-tweet to show your approval. Make the connection and stop missing opportunities. Others love to celebrate you, but they also want to be supported.

Make one Last List

1. Prioritize: We get bogged down with tasks that are distracting and over bearing, instead of doing things we truly enjoy. Start by making a list of the top five things that you enjoy the most. Then make it your point to do at least one thing  on the list daily. You can easily accomplish everything on your list weekly. Eventually, you would have created habits of doing things that you love.

2. Affirmation: If you have not created an affirmation statement, make one right now. Recite it everyday and night, until you have trained yourself to it. The Law of Attraction mandates that your positive affirmation will attract the positive things that you want. It is so easy to talk ourselves out of getting the things we want, but it takes courage and wisdom to seek the things you want. Affirming it is the first step.

3.  Self Empowerment:  Kick procrastination and judgement in the buttocks, they should no longer hold a place in your life. They both symbolize fear, in most cases the fear of success. When you conquer them, you create spaces for  motivation and praise. It is your responsibility to yourself to live your best life, start today

Why Do Some Women Fail In Their Business?

Do you ever wonder why some women fail in their businesses? There are several reasons, but a few stand out.

*It's a mix-match- Some women do not succeed, because they start businesses that don't match their unique purpose. It's not their fault; women often launch businesses to fill a void in their lives or to make more money. Several quick start businesses exists that offers immediate gratification; unfortunately, quick fixes usually don't last. Before you decide to sell anything, think about where your passion lies.

*Not enough dedication- Launching your own business without the right leadership can be tedious and overwhelming. If you jump into a business, without realizing the amount of work involved, you may become fatigue. It takes a lot of dedication to continue to manage your business, even when things are not looking the brightest. However, when it's your life's purpose, things are interesting and fun.

*Negativity from others- It is even harder to continue to nurture your business, without the necessary support from others. Even more so, it is much more difficult to continue when everyone is telling you to quit, because you will not be successful. Sometimes, you just have to motivate yourself. Tune out negativity from others and follow your passion.

Be Successful:  The good news is there is a way to achieve greatness with ease. In order to be successful with any entrepreneurial venture, you have to first understand your life's purpose.  When your purpose is not aligned with the things that you do, you will eventually want to stop doing them. Do not mimic someone else's agenda. Design your own agenda, based on your needs, your life and your goals.

From Cop to Coach

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you like what you are doing, you will be successful.

I spent several years as a police detective and met many wonderful people. In that time, I made many accomplishments, like earning Unit citations, authoring a book, The Art Of Listening and obtaining my Masters in Education. I am most pleased that I mentored several young adults and women.

In the uniform, I discovered my niche of empowering women. I help them identify things that prevent them from being their best self and/or becoming entrepreneurs. Once the latent "thing" has been revealed, like a hidden fingerprint, my clients and I uncover their unique purpose. Every one has something special that they must do in the world. Once my clients know their purpose, they walk in their greatness, sometimes that means becoming an entrepreneur, sometimes they grow in their business, but all the times, they feel empowered and freed.

There is a formula that saves money and frustration. There is a way to leave your legacy, without sacrificing precious family time or being unhappy.
